There is no shortage of
dreams for a healthier and productive society. Many of us live in cultures
that promote the setting of personal, professional and
societal goals. Did you know that roughly 80 percent of
North Americans attempt some sort of health resolution each
year? Losing weight, exercising regularly, managing stress
and improving relationships are just some of the ways we try
to improve ourselves.
Businesses and
government are also being re-organized
for continuous change. Almost every business has a strategic
plan that calls for new behavior on the part of its
employees. Public and private service agencies also see
themselves as instruments of social change. Each community
group and government agency has a mandate for addressing
long-standing social problems. To solve these social
problems, behavior must change, and the culture must support
that change. |
